What does the check engine light mean?
The check engine light (CEL) is a warning indicator that signals a problem with your car’s engine or emissions system. It can be triggered by various issues, ranging from a loose gas cap to more serious problems like a faulty oxygen sensor, catalytic converter, or engine misfire. The CEL is part of the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) system, which stores trouble codes that can be read using an OBD-II scanner.
