What are the advantages of a CVT over a traditional automatic transmission?
A Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) offers a seamless and infinite range of gear ratios, unlike traditional automatic transmissions, which have fixed gears. This allows the engine to operate at its most efficient RPM for a given speed, improving fuel efficiency and providing smooth acceleration. CVTs are particularly beneficial in maintaining fuel efficiency during stop-and-go traffic and urban driving. However, they may feel less responsive compared to traditional automatics, especially under hard acceleration, due to their unique “rubber band” effect.
