How does a differential lock work, and when should it be used?
A differential lock mechanically connects the wheels on the same axle, forcing them to rotate at the same speed. This feature is particularly useful in off-road or low-traction conditions, where one wheel may lose grip. By locking the differential, torque is equally distributed to both wheels, ensuring that the vehicle can continue moving even if one wheel is slipping. Differential locks should only be used in low-traction situations, as using them on dry pavement can cause handling issues and increase tire wear.
